Kat's Story
I’ve seen it from both sides. A large part of that was at EY, advising major financial institutions on risk and process transformation, governance, regulatory remediation and business continuity. Another large part was in industry, inside the business, doing it for real. That combination is rarer than you’d think and it changes how you see things.
What I’ve noticed over the years is risk is often seen as a standalone function. Something that sits separately from strategy and commercial goals. That separation is where businesses leave value on the table.
That’s not what risk management is. When it’s done properly, genuinely linked to your strategy, embedded in how you make decisions, it’s one of the most powerful tools a business has. It gives you the foundations to grow confidently, move faster and make better calls under pressure. The businesses that get this right don’t just avoid problems. They outperform.
I started Halo Risk because I wanted to work directly with businesses and help them get there. I’ll influence and challenge in the right way but I’m also straight-talking. I won’t give you the polished version if the honest version is more useful. Clients tell me that’s what they value most.
